Our Pastor Bishop Dr Cebert Thomas Richards was born February 1936, in the parish of St Ann, Jamaica, West Indies to parents Thomas Richards, a Baptist Deacon and Edith Richards and is the youngest of four children.

He emigrated to England in October 1960 and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in October 1963 and become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic.

He was ordained as a licenced Minister in 1976, then ordained an Elder and a pastor in 1977. Elevated to an Overseer in 1983 and then ordained a Bishop in 1993.

Bishop Dr Richards is the National Overseer of the Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic, England. He is also the senior pastor of the Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic, located at Prince of Wales Road, Darnall, Sheffield S9 4EU and he also resides in Sheffield.

During his career he has worked for Sheffield City Council as a Bus Inspector in administration. He is a counsellor and worked closely with the education and social services departments in Sheffield. He is now a retired Education Welfare Officer whose remit was to work as a counsellor and offered support to disruptive pupils. He is a member of the Churches Regional Commission for Yorkshire and Humberside, the Regional Chamber for Yorkshire and Humberside and the Black Majority Churches and Churches Together in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

He has attained a Bachelor’s degree in Theology, also a Doctorate in Divinity and diplomas in Counselling and Accounts through intensive study whilst working.

Bishop Dr Richards has co-authored two books entitled 'Praying with Power' and 'The Power of Preaching'.

Since being ordained National Overseeing Bishop in 1993 in the international Convocation, Paterson, NJ, USA and ratified in Sheffield, England, he by the help of God has overseen the growth and maturity of the Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic here in the UK. During 36 years of ministry, which has not been limited to this organisation or country, he has visited various countries as USA, Canada, Jamaica and Africa and witnessed many being blessed by the Word of God. The wise counsel of the Lord has used him to bring comfort, deliverance and uplifting to the saved and unsaved.

God through His infinite grace has brought him thus far, through many battles, mountains climbed, rivers crossed; hours spent in study, meditation, counselling, steadfastness in prayer; many messages preached, teachings delivered and souls saved and strengthened.

He is married to Assistant Pastor Maudlett Richards and they have a family of five boys and two girls who mainly live in Sheffield.

Bishop Dr Richards enjoys reading, teaching the Word of God, walking, travelling and meeting people from all walks of life.
